Camp Invention
 
Camp Invention will be held at Calhoun Academy of the Arts the week of June 14-18. This camp supports science indicators and engages students in problem solving skills with exciting, hands-on learning.  The camp is being offered for students in District Five (grades K – 6). Register online by March 31st, and receive a $35.00 discount on the cost of camp (Promo Code: AERD). www.campinvention.org

Calhoun Academy of the Arts fifth graders held their first ever Invention Convention on Wednesday, January 20, 2010. The students followed the design process to invent, test, and create advertisements for their new products.

The purpose of the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, & Advancement (CERRA) is to provide leadership in identifying, attracting, placing and retaining well-qualified individuals for the teaching profession in our state. In doing so, CERRA will respond to changing needs for teachers from underrepresented populations, in critical subject fields and in under-served geographical areas in South Carolina. The Center will work cooperatively with other organizations to promote the education profession.

Important Facts to Remember

1. All medicines sent to school must have a note stating the name of the child, the name and dosage of the medicine, as well as the time it is to be given. Please be sure it is signed and dated. This applies to prescriotion as well as over the counter medicines. Preferably use a Parent Permission Form that can be supplies from teh nurse's office. If your child is to take medicine for longer than 10 days, their doctor must fillout the form.

2. All medication must be in the original container and properly labeled.

3. The school must always have an UPDATED phone number and address for your child in case of illness or emergency.
