It is that time of year again! Anderson Five is hosting a summer reading challenge for faculty members and students. All you have to do is record what you read and the pages you read. Calhoun is competing with other Anderson Five schools and then the state for the top student reader and faculty member. Remember to Read, Read, Read this summer and to write it down. Students and faculty members will turn in their reading logs to their new elementary teachers or new sixth grade ELA teacher next school year (early September). |

Important Facts to Remember 1. All medicines sent to school must have a note stating the name of the child, the name and dosage of the medicine, as well as the time it is to be given. Please be sure it is signed and dated. This applies to prescriotion as well as over the counter medicines. Preferably use a Parent Permission Form that can be supplies from teh nurse's office. If your child is to take medicine for longer than 10 days, their doctor must fillout the form. |
|
Calhoun is a recipient of a Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Grant from the State Department of Education. Calhoun and Nevitt Forrest are the only two schools in our district to receive this grant. The purpose of the grant is to encourage students to eat fresh fruits and vegetables and to help them gain an appreciation for local farmers. Most of the classrooms are researching where the fruit grows naturally. They are also using the fruits to enhance their Science inquiry skills by observing the taste, texture, smell, and other properties! |
