Calhoun is a recipient of a Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Grant from the State Department of Education. Calhoun and Nevitt Forrest are the only two schools in our district to receive this grant. The purpose of the grant is to encourage students to eat fresh fruits and vegetables and to help them gain an appreciation for local farmers. Most of the classrooms are researching where the fruit grows naturally. They are also using the fruits to enhance their Science inquiry skills by observing the taste, texture, smell, and other properties! |
