Jenna Hallman - SC State Teacher of the Year!!!

Jenna Hallman was named State Teacher of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.  Hallman will represent South Carolina's 50,000 teachers and participate in a yearlong residency at the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement (CERRA).  She also receives a $25,000 cash award, a 2007 BMW Z-4 roadster to use for the year and a SMART boards (an interactive whiteboard that turns a computer and projector into a teaching and presentation tool).  She will participate in Leadership South Carolina and attend Notre Dame's prestigious three-day Excellence in Teaching Symposium. In addition, she was awarded a Dell laptop computer, a set of Michelin tires and a ring from Jostens.

 

Calhoun's Spring Performance - A Huge Success!
The third annual schoolwide spring performance held at New Spring was better than ever. Over 2000 people came to watch as Calhoun students sang and danced to various musical scores to the delight of their audience.

"We appreciate the support the Arts Commission has given us," said Principal Ann Self. "Thesefunds bring artists-in-residence to our school and provided additional support for out arts integrated curriculum.

Wesa Neely was voted Calhoun Teacher of the Year for 2008-2009 by the Calhoun Faculty.

At the Regional Science Fair Awards Ceremony held March 11th at Clemson University, Lillian Hardaway was given the Gold Award and a cash prize of $50.00. Amelia White was given the Silver Award and a cash prize of $25.00.

A group of McCant's students from Ms. Tilley and Ms. Wheeler's classes came and read Spring/ Easter related books to Ms. Moore's first grade class and shared Easter treats.
