Welcome to Calhoun Academy of the Arts.

At Calhoun Academy, it is our belief that all students can and will learn.  By bringing the curriculum to life through an arts integrated approach, students become active and engaged participants in the learning process and develop a love for learning early in their academic careers.  We believe that the arts integrated approach implemented by our faculty and staff helps address the various modalities and rates at which students learn.  Students have the opportunity to participate in visual art, music, dance, drama, and strings, where the general curriculum is reinforced and further brought to life.  Arts integrated strategies are incorporated into regular classroom instruction, giving all students an opportunity to experience success.  All students are given the opportunities and support to excel academically.  Additionally, during the school year, all students have the opportunity to perform on the "big stage" where they can showcase all they have learned over the course of the year.

I am entering my 29th year as an educator in Anderson School District Five.  During my 29 years, I taught First Grade, Second Grade, and Reading Recovery at New Prospect and Concord Elementary.  I also served as Instructional Facilitator and Assistant Principal at Varennes, as Director of Elementary Instructional Support for the District, and as Principal at both Whitehall and Concord Elementary schools.  As a life-long supporter of the arts, it is an honor to serve and support the students, families, and staff at Calhoun.

The success of Calhoun depends strongly on the relationships established between staff, students, and parents. It is so important for all of us to communicate and support each other. I can be reached by clicking the link located on the right or by calling the school at 864-260-5090.
